rEVOLution Nostalgia: Open Letter to My Family re. Ron Paul -- January 2008

My Dear Family,

I spent several hours compiling this especially for you. I can tell that you have spent little to no time researching the upcoming election and since we don't have much time I'm sending you some 'tough love'. Knowing and beginning to understand our nation's history and the way our "politics" work vs what I knew before feels like night and day. I used to feel that politics was something secret, taboo, or even something to be ashamed of. It seemed to be the battle of dems vs reps; both thinking they were right and the other was wrong. I've come to understand things much more clearly now. I feel as if the fog has lifted and I dont think I can effectively express to you how very literally I mean that. I knew something was very wrong in our country for maybe a year or more, but I couldn't pinpoint what/who the problem was or if there was any fixing it. I was at the point, in August, that I knew *for sure* I would not be casting a vote in the primary or the general election if I didn't find somebody besides Giuliani, Romney, Hillary, Obama (and whoever else was in the news then). When I began reading about Ron Paul fireworks starting going off. I felt as if I had hit the jackpot!. For a while I was spending 8+ online researching all the big issues and related history. I had to do a LOT of praying and singing praise and worship while being online to get through some of what I found. It was a dark time for me. I felt betrayed by the last few generations. I felt like a fool for having taken the mainstream media news and Presidents' words to be gospel. But as hard as it may be to hear, the truth does set one free. I still a lot of time reading online, reading books, talking to other people in person and online about history and politics. And if you all didn't know, I used to HATE history. I honestly thought it was a hobby for boring people.

I am writing all of this to you in hopes that you will understand that I didn't just watch tv, or read one article and hear Ron Paul's name and think it was cool so I decided to vote for him. I'm giving you a window in to what's really going on; what tv just doesn't show. You know, I thought that Ron Paul and his supporters were getting a decent amount of coverage lately. But when I talk to people who still don't know who he is IT BOGGLES MY MIND quite literally!! He's everywhere, his supporters are everywhere - but just not on tv, where you, my family, have demonstrated quite clearly for me that people depend on the mainstream media to spoon-feed them their reality. Yes, I realize that is harsh. But it is true. I hope this will open your eyes.

-Erin

I guess for someone who isn't in the "Ron Paul community" which exists primarily online or in a volunteer groups (rather than on tv as the uninvolved depend upon news to be), it must be very difficult to understand how someone who IS a part can be so sure that the "national poll numbers" are wrong. So here's a little compilation:

# of youtube.com videos for each candidate
Rudy Giuliani 4,290
Barack Obama 8,110
John McCain 3,120
Hillary Clinton 22,700
Mitt Romney 4,880
John Edwards 6,630
Fred Thompson 2,610
Dennis Kucinich 2,200
Mike Huckabee 2,870
Mike Gravel 1,590
Ron Paul 80,000 (that's not a typo - it's eighty thousand vids created/uploaded by RP supporters; many original)

Small sampling of original songs about Ron Paul:
(Obama is the only other candidate that I know of who has a (one) music video "I'm in love with Obama")
http://www.ronpaulforpresident2008.com/pages/music.html

Meetup.com groups
If you don't know, meetup.com is a place where people can start groups about any and everything. Independent of the campaign, Ron Paul supporters started groups that get together to have sign-wavings, canvass, etc. If you click on "search by topic" you will see a list of "popular topics". On that list of about 26 topics, Ron Paul 2008 is included and no other candidates are listed, although "Democratic Party" is. Under the "Politics and Activism" category, here are the numbers for Presidential candidates groups:

# groups # members # cities
Ron Paul 1,431 79,928 1,079
Mike Huckabee 323 7,186 301
Dennis Kucinich 93 2,550 90
Barack Obama 65 3,190 61
John Edwards 48 1,862 42
Hillary Clinton 45 1,213 39
Duncan Hunter 22 418 18
Fred Thompson 11 156 10
Mike Gravel 8 119 8
Mitt Romney 8 38 8
John McCain 7 96 7

Of the 1,431 Ron Paul groups, (remember individual volunteers started these) the top 3 have over 1,000 members each; the top 15 have over 500 members each; the top 234 groups have over 100 members each. Mine, in Greenville, has 8 + some who haven't gone online to sign up, but are participating.

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/ronpaul2008.com This will take a bit of work on your part. This link is to alexa's web-traffic stats. They keep track of how many people visit a particular website. You should see ronpaul2008.com show up, but if not put it in. Then add whichever other candidate you want to compare. The only ones with anything to compare are hillaryclinton.com, mikehuckabee.com, barackobama.com. There is also joinrudy2008.com, mittromney.com. After you add those in, click "compare", and then "1 year" at the top to get a bigger picture. This is why it galls me to hear people say "who is Ron Paul?" as if because you haven't heard of him he doesn't have supporters. No, you just DONT hear it on tv. Plain and simlple, you DONT.

In support of Ron Paul, Lawrence Lepard bought a full page ad called "An Open Letter to the American People" in the USA Today. At one point I googled the cost of such an ad. It was $80,000+. He funded the ad himself, but did use the imput of many other Ron Paul supporters on Ron Paul Forums. Here you can view pdf or jpg of the ad: http://mysite.verizon.net/nathanielyao/USA_Today_Ad.html

Let's move on to Ron Paul's blimp, which is currently flying in/near Orlando. Have you heard of it? My guess is no. I can't imagine anyone not knowing if Giuliani or Hillary had a blimp. Okay, here also, a supporter came up with this idea on his own. His name is Trevor Lyman and is in no way affiliated with the Ron Paul campaign. He does not receive any guidance or mony from them. It costs $400,000 a month to keep the blimp flying, all of which is raised online, independently of Ron Paul's official campaign. There is a video on this page: http://www.ronpaulblimp.com/

The blimp is not Trevor Lyman's first incredible accomplishment for the Ron Paul Revolution (oh and if you've heard that phrase, it didn't come from the campaign either. It and the graphic came from some guy in Arizona). Anyway, the first thing Trevor did was create http://www.thisnovember5th.com Before Nov 5th, the page was set up to receive email addresses of those pledging to donate $100 to Ron Paul at ronpaul2008.com on Nov 5th. The fundraiser set a new record for online donations in a single day. Ron Paul received $4.3 million in a 24 hr period. Here's a video about Trevor and the fundraiser: http://youtube.com/watch?v=IL86jfea4S8 Notably, Trevor, age 37, has never even voted before, nor has he ever been involved in a campaign. He found Ron Paul on youtube by accident.

Before the Nov 5th, the next "money bomb" as they're known in the "Ron Paul Internet Community" (Foxnews coined phrase). http://www.teaparty07.com/ was the second website created by Trevor Lyman. This time, Ron Paul's supporters made him the record holder for a single day of fundraising. This is not just an online record. John Kerry previously held the record with $5.7 million in a single day. That was right AFTER he received the democratic nomination. Only 5 weeks after donating $4.3 million, Ron Paul supporters donated $6.04 million in one day, surpassing Kerry's record. There was tv and newspaper media coverage the day after, but I'd be surprised if you heard about it. They quickly went back to only referring to "national polls".

If you're wondering, Ron Paul does not have any corporate endorsements or any other big donations. His median donation is $50 and the average is $130. There is a joke that no lobbyists bother going to Congressman Paul's office because it would just be a waste of their time. His money comes from people like me. Oh, if you didn't know the numbers released by Giuliani and Romney (maybe others too) included millions of their own money that they loaned to their campaign. Ron Paul just finished the 4Q with over $19 MILLION. 3Q - 1st Place. Hillary $27 Million 2nd Place. Obama $21 Million. They didn't loan themselves any money. Last note on the money is that all of the GOP candidates money has decreased each quarter, with the exception of Fred Thompson who got all his money late, as he entered the race late, and Ron Paul who went from about $600,000 to $2.5 million to $5.2 million to $19 million. Yeah! One site to get info on this is http://www.opensecrets.org however it doesn't give all the details.

I can't believe it, but I almost forgot the straw polls. These are far more dependable than national TELEPHONE polls for the simple reason that anyone can stand there and observe, do their own unofficial poll even. I checked the other candidates pages in the past and no one lists all the results of the straw polls. Ron Paul does. Hmmm. Here, take a look: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/ Puzzling huh?

Of the 54 Republican straw polls:
Ron Paul 1st plc 31
Ron Paul 2nd plc 7
Ron Paul 3rd plc 7
Ron Paul 4rd plc 5
Ron Paul 5th plc 1
Ron Paul 5th plc 3

He WON 57%!!! (oh but he's only 1-3% on tv) No wonder no one else puts the straw poll results on their website. In case you didn't look at the link, in the last 26 polls, Ron Paul won all but 5 of them - he's improved over time. I know of at least one straw poll which made mainstream news at least online. There was a straw poll in San Diego. The deal was you pay $33 for dinner and vote or just $5 to vote. People waited for 2 hours in the lobby after being promised they could come in and vote as long as they didn't eat anything. When the organizer realized that all those people wanted to vote for Ron Paul she cancelled. She actually said it was because there were more (Ron Paul) people than she thought she's cancelling it. Then she changed it to it's not fair because they're not paying the same amount of money. Then the Ron Paul supporters say they pay the $33 and she says no but she'll give their money back. Watch the videos: http://youtube.com/watch?v=kiM10StfyBA http://youtube.com/watch?v=BAIpFTygEI0

Oh and let's not forget what happened after the Foxnews debate which was one of the biggest eye-openers for me. You can read about it in my blog: http://www.myspace.com/hopeandhealinginjesus/blog/307586313

This is what is happening to those of us who ARE paying attention and are voting for Ron Paul. And we get mocked by people are are NOT paying attention.

In addition, almost every single presidential poll conducted online has Ron Paul winning by a landslide. I just read some stats that stated 70% of the US population is online. Only 1000 give-or-take are polled via "national telephone polls" and you must have a landline and quite often they only contact people who have previous voted in a GOP primary. I have neither. The latest aol poll here: http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2007/12/21/straw-poll-dec-21-jan-4/?ncid=NWS00010000000001 (you may have to vote to see results) has "polled" over 261,000 republicans. Also, Ron Paul has united republicans, democrats and independents. So, those dems voting for RP certainly aren't getting polled. Likewise none of the Independents are being polled. But they are all donating their money, which is apparent. Dad, I heard you say that there is no chance for the Republicans up against Hillary. You are absolutely right! UNLESS Ron Paul is nominated. At the above aol poll Hillary received over 200,000 while Ron Paul had only 75,000. BUT total dem votes only equaled 240,000. People who understand the truth about what is going on in our politics, people who have taken the time to look into the history of the US and the world know enough to refuse to vote for anyone besides Ron Paul. We will be writing his name in if he's not on the general election ballot. That's how serious this is.

The "national poll" numbers tell you one thing only and that is which candidate the person on the phone said they would vote for. Many of those polls DON'T even INCLUDE Ron Paul's name such as this one by Rasmussen from LAST WEEK: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/as_campaign_season_begins_only_one_presidential_candidate_is_viewed_favorably_by_majority_of_voters don't even include Ron Paul's name on them, just as Foxnews is not including him in their Forum on Jan 6th, right **before NH votes**. Oddly enough, they've already invited him to an event on Jan 10th **after NH votes............ Hmmmm Fishy? The NH GOP's Fergus Cullen has released this statement:

I don't have any idea who will be declared the nominee. When I look at these numbers, I can see which candidate has people who believe in his message enough to get up off the couch and go tell someone else; to donate their own time and money voluntarily without direction or resources from the campaign. These people care enough about our country to try to change it - for free. I also see the daily efforts to stifle Ron Paul's message and his supporters. Why? You be the judge. Why are we being ignored? You must want to know. My message to you wake up and pay attention. Read the Constitution. Read the PATRIOT Act. Read Directive 51. Read what the founding fathers and others said about a central banking system ie the Federal Reserve. I will leave you with some of my favorites:

"But if in the pursuit of the means we should unfortunately stumble again on unfunded paper money or any similar species of fraud, we shall assuredly give a fatal stab to our national credit in its infancy. Paper money will invariably operate in the body of politics as spirit liquors on the human body. They prey on the vitals and ultimately destroy them. Paper money has had the effect in your state that it will ever have, to ruin commerce, oppress the honest, and open the door to every species of fraud and injustice." -- George Washington in a letter to Jabez Bowen, Rhode Island, Jan. 9, 1787

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws."-- Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild

"The few who understand the system, will either be so interested from it's profits or so dependant on it's favors, that there will be no opposition from that class." -- Rothschild Brothers of London, 1863

"It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." -- Henry Ford

It might seem prophetic, but it isn't. Ron Paul supporters didn't make it up. This is history repeating itself. And it will continue if "We The People" don't start doing our job and deciding what happens in government, as the Constitution requires.

"When the people fear the government, we have tyranny. When the government fears the people, we have liberty"
-Thomas Jefferson

TSA: A Patdown By Any Other Name Would Be Illegal

A recent comment on a video post to my facebook page spurred me to throw this info up here for anyone who may still be in the dark regarding the new-ish airport full-body scanners (aka backscatter, x-ray, naked body scanner). The following is the video I posted with my comment, followed by a friend's comment, and my reply.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me: "This is disgusting, and exactly why my family won't fly from any airports that employ these techniques. Teaching little kids it's EVER okay for a stranger to touch them like that.... God have mercy on us."

Friend: "so what's the story? did they scan her and see something usual? I wouldn't put it past any terrorist or drug dealer to place something on a child thinking they could get away with it. sure the mother looked "nice" but you can't tell by looking at someone what's going on. the little girl didn't seem upset about it and the security person kept the mother and child informed of everything she was doing. sorry it happened to her but that's just how the world (US especially) has become."

Me:
@"Beth", I find it really hard to believe you would have allowed a stranger (or even family!) to look at or touch "Hannah", "Gina", or "Lucy's" private parts FOR ANY REASON when they were kids, or that you would allow it to happen to your granddaughters. If you would, love ya, but remind me not to let you babysit =D

You just basically said:
1. That because it's possible for someone to put something illegal on a child, it's okay for TSA to touch their privates. It's illegal for a police officer to do that without probable cause, and even then they wait for the same gender unless there is probable cause to suspect imminent danger.
2. That sexual assault is okay as long as the child doesn't protest, and the offender notifies the parent of the abuse!

Touching ones genitals or squeezing their breasts, even though clothes, is wrong. Period. Would Jesus touch your privates, or say its okay for me to touch yours? If I implemented a policy (to keep my home "safer") of requiring visitors to allow me (or Jae) to touch every inch of their body, do you think I'd have any visitors?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, let me drop some knowledge. Limited as mine is, sadly it's far more than the average American!

-IT'S STANDARD: This "enhanced patdown" as they call it is performed REGULARLY, DAILY all over the country. According to TSA, people are RANDOMLY selected for the backscatter machine. If you don't want to be seen naked in this machine, and sustain the radiation, your ONLY other option is to be fondled. I even saw this done to a lady at my little airport in Greenville, MS, and we don't have the backscatter machine. It was gross and embarrassing for everyone. If this were done by anyone else, it would be called what it really is, sexual assault. It would be illegal for even a police officer to touch someone in this manner except there be probable cause. Badges have been stripped because an officer touched someone inappropriately in a patdown. Buying a plane ticket is NOT probable cause for a patdown, a police term to describe the way a suspected criminal's body is checked. Also noteworthy is the fact that if a husband and wife were to touch each other in this manner, in an airport, or anywhere in public, they would be arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior!

Here's a video in case you're unfamiliar with the machine. Pay special attention to the third person, the first man. It's a boy!

And here is the "enhanced patdown".

And another....

-ILLEGAL: It is not the government's respsonsibility to keep us safe. They don't have the authority to do in an airport anything they don't have the authority to do on the street. The airport isn't the only place they cross the legal line and violate our rights, especially since P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act was passed. But, the bottom line is THIS STUFF HAPPENS BECAUSE THE CITIZENS OF THE USA ALLOW IT. I for one will not.

The good Judge Napolitano explains it best:

-ILLOGICAL: Let's assume for a moment that these practices are really the answer, the ONLY effective method for keeping us safe on a flight. Do you think the "terrorists" will give up terrorizing? Have they ever, in all of history, given up? No! They'll move to train stations, bus stations, malls, walmarts.....where do we stop? So, where do we draw the line? Imagine if on your next visit to Walmart, the greeter informed that in order to enter the store, you must let him/her grope every part of your body "for safety"? Would you consent? Really imagine for a moment, what percentage of shoppers do you suppose would actually enter the store? (More on this in a video below)

-FOLLOW THE MONEY: Michael Chertoff, former head of homeland security pushed hard for the federal government to buy the body scanner machines, with the ACLU and others in vehement opposition to the invasion of privacy. Right in the midst of his national tour, what do you know, somebody allegedly hides explosives in his underwear. So, SEE the government MUST looks into or feel your underwear now! ::sarcasm:: Come to find out, Chertoff HAS A STAKE in the transaction. Rapiscan Systems, a manufacturer of the naked x-ray machines, is a client of his security consulting firm, Chertoff Group. He was giving the false impression that he cares so much for the safety of the American people, that he's still working for us though no longer actually employed. To add insult to injury, Rapiscan received $25 MILLION in stimulus money too. The alleged "underwear bomber" didn't board his plane in the US, so we couldn't have stopped him with the new scanners anyway. BUT, the airport is run by the SAME security company that runs all the airports the alleged 9/11 hijackers used. Coincidence? I don't believe in them myself.

-SO JUST LEAVE AIRPORT?: So let's suppose you show up at airport security, not knowing about the new machine or patdown, and decide you'd rather drive than be fondled or looked at through your clothes. You will likely be told you're NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE. They probably won't say it outright, but expect to be delayed/detained for a long time. If you stick to your guns (and natural/constitutional/inalienable rights) like this guy did, and leave finally get an escort to the airport entrance, they will bring a civil suit against you with penalties of $10-15,000 for NOT SUBMITTING TO THE NAKED MACHINE OR ENHANCED PATDOWN!! This is another yet another indication that the purpose is NOT safety. You should ask yourself what it really is.

-BAD PUBLIC SERVANT: In my own hometown of West Palm Beach, FL, Palm Beach County Sheriff Deputies will now be called in on ANYONE who does not want to go through the naked body scanner, or the enhanced patdown. PBSO says they won't arrest everyone, but will detain the travelers and investigate each case. See the Video here: http://www.wpbf.com/r/25855931/detail.html

My question is, where on Earth do they claim to get the authority to even detain a US Citizen simple for choosing to leave the airport rather than have their naked body seen, or genitals fondled?

-GOOD PUBLIC SERVANT: Chief Deputy DA Steve Wagstaffe has stood up for the citizens of his county, San Mateo, California, and made it clear to TSA that their agents will be arrested if they violate the law. The unwarranted touching of the "private areas" of any person over the clothes is a misdemeanor, and skin-to-skin contact is a felony. This guy is a real hero!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As if the TSA wasn't already out of control, this just adds fuel to the fire. Maybe I'll post about the common TSA harassment that goes far beyond what you've seen here. In the meantime, you can go to youtube.com and search "tsa harassment", and see for yourself.

Illuminate the Lies & Legalize Cannabis ("marijuana")

I jumped in on an impassioned discussion resulting from comments Pat Robertson recently made regarding the plant we know as "marijuana". I call it by it's real name, cannabis. (for an eyeopening discovery, google how it got its new name).

For once Pat and I agree on something!

Here's what I had to say in response to comments in favor of continued incarceration of "marijuana" users because of its negative effects on a person, physically, socially, and mentally:

The real question here is not whether or not something is harmful but rather whether anyone has the natural right to lock another up for harming themself. We tried that with alcohol......remember?

Take a look at how drugs rank in a study by UK professor, David Nutt.

Photobucket
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Nutt

Here's another graph which is a little easier to read:

Photobucket http://lsdimension.wordpress.com/2010/10/15/bbc-horizon-is-alcohol-worse%C2%A0than%C2%A0ecstasy/
Is Alcohol Worse than Ecstasy?
 1. Heroin 2. Cocaine ..... 5. Alcohol .... 9. Tobacco ... 11.Cannabis

Additionally, cannabis would greatly help my husband who suffers severe pain from sickle cell. It would be incredibly safer and better for him to use cannabis than use morphine (the regularly prescribed drug for sickle cell pain crisis) which is nothing less than a more slowly absorbed HEROIN, and equally addictive at a slightly larger dose!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morphine
"Diacetylmorphine (better known as heroin) was synthesized from morphine in 1874 and brought to market by Bayer in 1898. Heroin is approximately 1.5 to 2 times more potent than morphine on a milligram-for-milligram basis. Due to the lipid solubility of diacetylmorphine, it is able to cross the blood-brain barrier faster than morphine, subsequently increasing the reinforcing component of addiction."
 Drug Library: Morphine and Heroin
"The only significant difference between them is that the acetyl molecule allows heroin to cross the blood-brain barrier more quickly than ordinary morphine."
Even the government lumps both the illegal heroin and legal morphine together http://www.nhtsa.gov/people/injury/research/job185drugs/morphine.htm

NOTE: #15, Methylphenidate, is what we commonly refer to as "Ritalin", the drug millions of kids take daily, is more harmful than anabolic steroids and ecstasy. Ecstasy is apparently not the danger it's believed to be (only 10 UK deaths a yr from ecstasy vs thousands from alcohol use), and Ritalin isn't as harmless as we're supposed to think.

The most telling bit of info I've found in all my cannabis reading is that while we're being told that cannabis is the worst kind of evil, big pharma wasted no time patenting synthetic versions of THC (the active AND SUPPOSEDLY DANGEROUS ingredient in the cannabis plant). AND the CDC has never had the pleasure of reporting a single death from "marijuana", meaning you can't overdose.
"Marinol" an FDA approved synthetic version of THC is responsible for at least 4 deaths. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydrocannabinol (scroll to "Dronabinol")

Other drugs prescribed in place of "marijuana" claimed 192 lives between 97-05. http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000145

It might cost a chronic sufferer a few dollars to grow their own never-ending supply of cannabis. Guess how much the Marinol pills cost? $200+/30 capsules. http://www.healthpricer.com/marinol-25mg-compare-prices/5242255.html

Other Facebook commenters were covering the Constitution aspect, so I stuck to educating the FB masses on the scientific info most people just don't know, and don't care to find out. Watching a "30 Days" episode I learned that over 50% of our prison population are drug-only offenders. Imagine if they were all convicted of drinking, making, or selling alcohol, like in the prohibition. It's the same thing, only many of these drugs they used, cannabis in particular, are FAR less harmful than alcohol and FDA approved pharmaceutical drugs. I'm glad we learned our lesson, and my 10+ family members and myself aren't locked up in prison right now for our past or continuous alcohol use. My heart breaks for those who are and their loved ones who suffer this needless destruction of families.

The list of things I can do that have the potential to harm me both accidentally (driving, using bleach, mountain climbing), or intentionally (stabbing myself in the leg, jumping off my roof, banging my head on concrete) is INFINITE. None of those things are illegal, and rightfully so. I have no right to come and forcibly keep you from any of those activities, or punish you in any way after the fact. Yet we allowed the authorities to do that very thing.

I think Thomas Jefferson said it best.
"But our rulers can have authority over such natural rights only as we have submitted to them. The rights of conscience we never submitted, we could not submit. We are answerable for them to our God. The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

USA: It's now illegal to buy firearms while known to be "disgruntled"!???

http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100309/NEWS/3090315
http://www.theangrypatriot.com/?p=364

The home of an Oregon man, reportedly disgruntled over being placed on administrative leave from his job at the Department of Transportation, was descended on by Oregon State Police, Jackson and Douglas county sheriff departments, and the Medford and Roseburg police departments despite his breaking NO law. The action involved the dawn evacuation of neighbors homes. Hostage negotiators and SWAT were called in, though no laws were broken, to convinced the man to "voluntarily surrender to SWAT" and subject himself to a mental-health examination because he purchased several firearms within days of his alleged state of upset over losing his job.

HOLD UP Y'ALL! Let me see if I understand. It is illegal to purchase a gun if someone has told police that you are really, really, really upset about something? WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTT??? Are you kidding me? Is this the twilight zone? Somebody wake me up! How do you get so many people in close proximity willing to violate basic human rights like this???? I've got a message for those yellow-bellied (probably a few with a God-complex) "law enforcement" officers: READ THE CONSTITUTION WHICH YOU ARE SWORN TO UPHOLD AND DEFEND!!!

I shudder to think what would have happened if he'd (legally) refused. The firearm purchases were legal, and included the required Oregon State Police background checks. Authorities were reportedly "extremely concerned" that he may be planning retaliation against his employer, and subsequently "took a proactive approach" (See it here: KDRV video)  rather than the usual reactive....you know when a CRIME has actually been committed!? NO CRIMINAL CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED -- of course because no crime was committed! -- yet, the 3 recently purchased firearms, along with 2 he owned prior to losing his job, were confiscated. It is unclear if the man is still being held illegally. Heads must roll!

Amendment IV to the US CONSTITUTION reads:
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses,
papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and
seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue,
but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation,
and particularly describing the place to be searched,
and the persons or things to be seized."

The irony: According to the SUPREME COURT of these United States, this man could have LEGALLY KILLED ALL OFFICERS trying to arrest him illegally with the very weapons they confiscated.

http://www.constitution.org/uslaw/defunlaw.htm

“Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer's life if necessary.” Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306. This premise was upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case: John Bad Elk v. U.S., 177 U.S. 529. The Court stated: “Where the officer is killed in the course of the disorder which naturally accompanies an attempted arrest that is resisted, the law looks with very different eyes upon the transaction, when the officer had the right to make the arrest, from what it does if the officer had no right. What may be murder in the first case might be nothing more than manslaughter in the other, or the facts might show that no offense had been committed.”

“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).

“Story affirmed the right of self-defense by persons held illegally. In his own writings, he had admitted that ‘a situation could arise in which the checks-and-balances principle ceased to work and the various branches of government concurred in a gross usurpation.’ There would be no usual remedy by changing the law or passing an amendment to the Constitution, should the oppressed party be a minority. Story concluded, ‘If there be any remedy at all ... it is a remedy never provided for by human institutions.’ That was the ‘ultimate right of all human beings in extreme cases to resist oppression, and to apply force against ruinous injustice.’” (From Mutiny on the Amistad by Howard Jones, Oxford University Press, 1987, an account of the reading of the decision in the case by Justice Joseph Story of the Supreme Court.

Joe Stack Suicide Note (copied moments before taken down)

Note originally posted at http://embeddedart.com

If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, “Why did this have to happen?”  The simple truth is that it is complicated and has been coming for a long time.  The writing process, started many months ago, was intended to be therapy in the face of the looming realization that there isn’t enough therapy in the world that can fix what is really broken.  Needless to say, this rant could fill volumes with example after example if I would let it.  I find the process of writing it frustrating, tedious, and probably pointless… especially given my gross inability to gracefully articulate my thoughts in light of the storm raging in my head.  Exactly what is therapeutic about that I’m not sure, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

We are all taught as children that without laws there would be no society, only anarchy.  Sadly, starting at early ages we in this country have been brainwashed to believe that, in return for our dedication and service, our government stands for justice for all.  We are further brainwashed to believe that there is freedom in this place, and that we should be ready to lay our lives down for the noble principals represented by its founding fathers.  Remember? One of these was “no taxation without representation”.  I have spent the total years of my adulthood unlearning that crap from only a few years of my childhood.  These days anyone who really stands up for that principal is promptly labeled a “crackpot”, traitor and worse.

While very few working people would say they haven’t had their fair share of taxes (as can I), in my lifetime I can say with a great degree of certainty that there has never been a politician cast a vote on any matter with the likes of me or my interests in mind.  Nor, for that matter, are they the least bit interested in me or anything I have to say.

Why is it that a handful of thugs and plunderers can commit unthinkable atrocities (and in the case of the GM executives, for scores of years) and when it’s time for their gravy train to crash under the weight of their gluttony and overwhelming stupidity, the force of the full federal government has no difficulty coming to their aid within days if not hours?  Yet at the same time, the joke we call the American medical system, including the drug and insurance companies, are murdering tens of thousands of people a year and stealing from the corpses and victims they cripple, and this country’s leaders don’t see this as important as bailing out a few of their vile, rich cronies.  Yet, the political “representatives” (thieves, liars, and self-serving scumbags is far more accurate) have endless time to sit around for year after year and debate the state of the “terrible health care problem”.  It’s clear they see no crisis as long as the dead people don’t get in the way of their corporate profits rolling in.

And justice? You’ve got to be kidding!

How can any rational individual explain that white elephant conundrum in the middle of our tax system and, indeed, our entire legal system?  Here we have a system that is, by far, too complicated for the brightest of the master scholars to understand.  Yet, it mercilessly “holds accountable” its victims, claiming that they’re responsible for fully complying with laws not even the experts understand.  The law “requires” a signature on the bottom of a tax filing; yet no one can say truthfully that they understand what they are signing; if that’s not “duress” than what is.  If this is not the measure of a totalitarian regime, nothing is.

How did I get here?

My introduction to the real American nightmare starts back in the early ‘80s.  Unfortunately after more than 16 years of school, somewhere along the line I picked up the absurd, pompous notion that I could read and understand plain English.  Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions.  In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy.  We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God).  We took a great deal of care to make it all visible, following all of the rules, exactly the way the law said it was to be done.

The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living.  However, this is where I learned that there are two “interpretations” for every law; one for the very rich, and one for the rest of us… Oh, and the monsters are the very ones making and enforcing the laws; the inquisition is still alive and well today in this country.

That little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0.  It made me realize for the first time that I live in a country with an ideology that is based on a total and complete lie.  It also made me realize, not only how naive I had been, but also the incredible stupidity of the American public; that they buy, hook, line, and sinker, the crap about their “freedom”… and that they continue to do so with eyes closed in the face of overwhelming evidence and all that keeps happening in front of them.

Before even having to make a shaky recovery from the sting of the first lesson on what justice really means in this country (around 1984 after making my way through engineering school and still another five years of “paying my dues”), I felt I finally had to take a chance of launching my dream of becoming an independent engineer.

On the subjects of engineers and dreams of independence, I should digress somewhat to say that I’m sure that I inherited the fascination for creative problem solving from my father.  I realized this at a very young age.

The significance of independence, however, came much later during my early years of college; at the age of 18 or 19 when I was living on my own as student in an apartment in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  My neighbor was an elderly retired woman (80+ seemed ancient to me at that age) who was the widowed wife of a retired steel worker.  Her husband had worked all his life in the steel mills of central Pennsylvania with promises from big business and the union that, for his 30 years of service, he would have a pension and medical care to look forward to in his retirement.  Instead he was one of the thousands who got nothing because the incompetent mill management and corrupt union (not to mention the government) raided their pension funds and stole their retirement.  All she had was social security to live on.

In retrospect, the situation was laughable because here I was living on peanut butter and bread (or Ritz crackers when I could afford to splurge) for months at a time.  When I got to know this poor figure and heard her story I felt worse for her plight than for my own (I, after all, I thought I had everything to in front of me).  I was genuinely appalled at one point, as we exchanged stories and commiserated with each other over our situations, when she in her grandmotherly fashion tried to convince me that I would be “healthier” eating cat food (like her) rather than trying to get all my substance from peanut butter and bread.  I couldn’t quite go there, but the impression was made.  I decided that I didn’t trust big business to take care of me, and that I would take responsibility for my own future and myself.

Return to the early ‘80s, and here I was off to a terrifying start as a ‘wet-behind-the-ears’ contract software engineer... and two years later, thanks to the fine backroom, midnight effort by the sleazy executives of Arthur Andersen (the very same folks who later brought us Enron and other such calamities) and an equally sleazy New York Senator (Patrick Moynihan), we saw the passage of 1986 tax reform act with its section 1706.

For you who are unfamiliar, here is the core text of the IRS Section 1706, defining the treatment of workers (such as contract engineers) for tax purposes. Visit this link for a conference committee report (http://www.synergistech.com/1706.shtml#ConferenceCommitteeReport) regarding the intended interpretation of Section 1706 and the relevant parts of Section 530, as amended. For information on how these laws affect technical services workers and their clients, read our discussion here (http://www.synergistech.com/ic-taxlaw.shtml).

SEC. 1706. TREATMENT OF CERTAIN TECHNICAL PERSONNEL.

(a) IN GENERAL - Section 530 of the Revenue Act of 1978 is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new subsection:

(d) EXCEPTION. - This section shall not apply in the case of an individual who pursuant to an arrangement between the taxpayer and another person, provides services for such other person as an engineer, designer, drafter, computer programmer, systems analyst, or other similarly skilled worker engaged in a similar line of work.

(b) EFFECTIVE DATE. - The amendment made by this section shall apply to remuneration paid and services rendered after December 31, 1986.

Note:

·      "another person" is the client in the traditional job-shop relationship.

·      "taxpayer" is the recruiter, broker, agency, or job shop.

·      "individual", "employee", or "worker" is you.

Admittedly, you need to read the treatment to understand what it is saying but it’s not very complicated.  The bottom line is that they may as well have put my name right in the text of section (d).  Moreover, they could only have been more blunt if they would have came out and directly declared me a criminal and non-citizen slave.  Twenty years later, I still can’t believe my eyes.

During 1987, I spent close to $5000 of my ‘pocket change’, and at least 1000 hours of my time writing, printing, and mailing to any senator, congressman, governor, or slug that might listen; none did, and they universally treated me as if I was wasting their time.  I spent countless hours on the L.A. freeways driving to meetings and any and all of the disorganized professional groups who were attempting to mount a campaign against this atrocity.  This, only to discover that our efforts were being easily derailed by a few moles from the brokers who were just beginning to enjoy the windfall from the new declaration of their “freedom”.  Oh, and don’t forget, for all of the time I was spending on this, I was loosing income that I couldn’t bill clients.

After months of struggling it had clearly gotten to be a futile exercise.  The best we could get for all of our trouble is a pronouncement from an IRS mouthpiece that they weren’t going to enforce that provision (read harass engineers and scientists).  This immediately proved to be a lie, and the mere existence of the regulation began to have its impact on my bottom line; this, of course, was the intended effect.

Again, rewind my retirement plans back to 0 and shift them into idle.  If I had any sense, I clearly should have left abandoned engineering and never looked back.

Instead I got busy working 100-hour workweeks.  Then came the L.A. depression of the early 1990s.  Our leaders decided that they didn’t need the all of those extra Air Force bases they had in Southern California, so they were closed; just like that.  The result was economic devastation in the region that rivaled the widely publicized Texas S&L fiasco.  However, because the government caused it, no one gave a shit about all of the young families who lost their homes or street after street of boarded up houses abandoned to the wealthy loan companies who received government funds to “shore up” their windfall.  Again, I lost my retirement.

Years later, after weathering a divorce and the constant struggle trying to build some momentum with my business, I find myself once again beginning to finally pick up some speed.  Then came the .COM bust and the 911 nightmare.  Our leaders decided that all aircraft were grounded for what seemed like an eternity; and long after that, ‘special’ facilities like San Francisco were on security alert for months.  This made access to my customers prohibitively expensive.  Ironically, after what they had done the Government came to the aid of the airlines with billions of our tax dollars … as usual they left me to rot and die while they bailed out their rich, incompetent cronies WITH MY MONEY!  After these events, there went my business but not quite yet all of my retirement and savings.

By this time, I’m thinking that it might be good for a change.  Bye to California, I’ll try Austin for a while.  So I moved, only to find out that this is a place with a highly inflated sense of self-importance and where damn little real engineering work is done.  I’ve never experienced such a hard time finding work.  The rates are 1/3 of what I was earning before the crash, because pay rates here are fixed by the three or four large companies in the area who are in collusion to drive down prices and wages… and this happens because the justice department is all on the take and doesn’t give a fuck about serving anyone or anything but themselves and their rich buddies.

To survive, I was forced to cannibalize my savings and retirement, the last of which was a small IRA.  This came in a year with mammoth expenses and not a single dollar of income.  I filed no return that year thinking that because I didn’t have any income there was no need.  The sleazy government decided that they disagreed.  But they didn’t notify me in time for me to launch a legal objection so when I attempted to get a protest filed with the court I was told I was no longer entitled to due process because the time to file ran out.  Bend over for another $10,000 helping of justice.

So now we come to the present.  After my experience with the CPA world, following the business crash I swore that I’d never enter another accountant’s office again.  But here I am with a new marriage and a boatload of undocumented income, not to mention an expensive new business asset, a piano, which I had no idea how to handle.  After considerable thought I decided that it would be irresponsible NOT to get professional help; a very big mistake.

When we received the forms back I was very optimistic that they were in order.  I had taken all of the years information to Bill Ross, and he came back with results very similar to what I was expecting.  Except that he had neglected to include the contents of Sheryl’s unreported income; $12,700 worth of it. To make matters worse, Ross knew all along this was missing and I didn’t have a clue until he pointed it out in the middle of the audit.  By that time it had become brutally evident that he was representing himself and not me.

This left me stuck in the middle of this disaster trying to defend transactions that have no relationship to anything tax-related (at least the tax-related transactions were poorly documented).  Things I never knew anything about and things my wife had no clue would ever matter to anyone.  The end result is… well, just look around.

I remember reading about the stock market crash before the “great” depression and how there were wealthy bankers and businessmen jumping out of windows when they realized they screwed up and lost everything.  Isn’t it ironic how far we’ve come in 60 years in this country that they now know how to fix that little economic problem; they just steal from the middle class (who doesn’t have any say in it, elections are a joke) to cover their asses and it’s “business-as-usual”.  Now when the wealthy fuck up, the poor get to die for the mistakes… isn’t that a clever, tidy solution.

As government agencies go, the FAA is often justifiably referred to as a tombstone agency, though they are hardly alone.  The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government.  Nothing changes unless there is a body count (unless it is in the interest of the wealthy sows at the government trough).  In a government full of hypocrites from top to bottom, life is as cheap as their lies and their self-serving laws.

I know I’m hardly the first one to decide I have had all I can stand.  It has always been a myth that people have stopped dying for their freedom in this country, and it isn’t limited to the blacks, and poor immigrants.  I know there have been countless before me and there are sure to be as many after.  But I also know that by not adding my body to the count, I insure nothing will change.  I choose to not keep looking over my shoulder at “big brother” while he strips my carcass, I choose not to ignore what is going on all around me, I choose not to pretend that business as usual won’t continue; I have just had enough.

I can only hope that the numbers quickly get too big to be white washed and ignored that the American zombies wake up and revolt; it will take nothing less.  I would only hope that by striking a nerve that stimulates the inevitable double standard, knee-jerk government reaction that results in more stupid draconian restrictions people wake up and begin to see the pompous political thugs and their mindless minions for what they are.  Sadly, though I spent my entire life trying to believe it wasn’t so, but violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer.  The cruel joke is that the really big chunks of shit at the top have known this all along and have been laughing, at and using this awareness against, fools like me all along.

I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different.  I am finally ready to stop this insanity.  Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well.

My Shrimp Alfredo Recipe

I couldn't find just one recipe that appealed to me, so I grabbed ingredients from a few, and added some of my own. It was so delicious, I wanted to share! Many of the measurements below can be varied to taste, and ingredients omitted or substituted. Just be careful not to add too much flour.

SHRIMP ALFREDO

Pasta

1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp oil
1 lb pasta of your choice

Start boiling water for pasta. Add salt and oil to water. (At this point, start on your sauce.) Follow directions on box. Pour sauce over noodles**

Sauce

1 stick butter, unsalted
6 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 medium onion, minced
1.5 lbs shelled deveined shrimp, cooked
1 tsp dried parsley
5 Tbsp flour
1 pint half-n-half
8 oz parmesan cheese, grated
salt to taste

While water boils, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook about two minutes, until onion becomes translucent. Add shrimp and parsley, cooking just until heated. TURN OFF HEAT. Next, add one Tbsp of flour at a time, until mixture thickens a bit, but is still very moist. (If a lot of water cooks off your shrimp, you'll need more flour.) Slowly pour half-n-half into skillet while stirring. Heat over med-high heat until slightly thickened. TURN TO LOW HEAT, then mix in parmesan cheese until melted. The more cheese you add, and the longer you cook, the thicker the sauce will be. Add salt to taste.

**I return noodles to the pot and immediately combine with sauce so that my noodles don't have a chance to dry out. However, the shrimp tends to fall under the noodles. If you do this, make sure each bowl gets enough shrimp!

Primary Jury Responsibility: JUDGE THE LAW

Jurors have the power and responsibility to vote "not guilty", even if the evidence in the case proves a "crime" was committed, if they judge the law to be unjust or unconstitutional. Most jurors will never know this because the majority of Judges no longer make them aware. Many, if not most, actually instruct juries to decide the case by applying the law, as it is given to them, to the evidence. This is not the law, nor the precedence. A juror can and should disregard a judge's instructions, if he sees fit, judging both fact and law according to his conscience. This is jury nullification.

The doctrine is supported by these 1.) A jury can never be punished for a verdict it returns. 2.) Once acquitted, one can not be tried for the same crime again (double jeopardy).

Legal definition of "jury". Pay attention to "jury verdict" section. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/jury

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification

The first case of jury nullification was in 1670 when Williams Mead and Penn were arrested for "unlawful assembly", violating a law designed to prevent any religious expression not approved by the crown. The judge demanded a return verdict of "guilty", but the jury repeatedly refused, resulting in the imprisonment of four jurors. A higher court ultimately overturned the ruling, establishing the common law practice of juries judging on conscience.

John Peter Zenger, who in 1735 was tried for the crime of "seditious libel". The British ruled Colony of New York did not permit its citizens freedom of press, and when Zenger published articles criticizing the Governor, he was arrested and jailed for 10 months. Any publication that "brings into hatred or contempt for government" or "civil unrest", even if truthful, was illegal. The evidence in the case proved that a crime had indeed been committed. Though he argued that the information he printed was true, therefore justification for the libel, this is not why Zenger was acquitted. The judge instructed the jury that their only responsibility was to find guilt because he had violated the letter of the law, and that the "issue of law" was to be left to the court to decide. Nonetheless, in a mere ten minutes the jury returned with a verdict of "not guilty".

Wiki-Seditious Libel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seditious_libel

The US government is a system of checks and balances, of which trial by jury is the final and most crucial; perhaps the true meaning of "government by the people, for the people". Thomas Jefferson is quoted as saying in 1789, "I consider [trial by jury] as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution." This is the only REAL tool WE THE PEOPLE have to keep government in check. We are not their minions; they are our servants. In 1895 the US Supreme Court ruled that although juries do have the right to judge both the facts of the case, and the law itself, and to disregard the instructions of the judge, no one is required to tell them of this right. One must wonder what the motive to keep the rights of a jury a tightly guarded secret.

In this old TV show, "At Issue", (from The National Endowment For Liberty), Ron Paul and a panel of experts discuss the power of the jury and expose the Judge's dirty little secret.

This article http://www.ehow.com/how_2140173_avoid-jury-nullification.html" caught my eye. It details how to avoid jury nullification (I guess to the rookie prosecutor). And for what purpose? To save time...money...something more sinister? Can we trust anyone who puts ANY objective above that of justice? The idea that public knowledge of the true power and responsibility of a jury creates a problem for the courts is outrageous! But the fact remains that this critical information is being intentionally withheld by most judges, making it quite obvious that the American public is in fact pitted against the very system we trust to deliver justice. That's a scary thought! But perhaps that mentality is where we went wrong. We really have no one to thank but ourselves. When did we stop paying attention and become so complacent? Time to make up for lost time. Get educated and then tell somebody-lots of people-the truth!
